Awards for qualifying beneficiaries
Awards must be granted only to a beneficiary that has been selected by the trust, and who is a qualifying beneficiary according to the specified criteria.

Awards are given to beneficiaries for...
-
The settling of tuition fees of the educational institution where the beneficiary is enrolled.
-
The purchase of text books and / or study material as prescribed by the educational institution.
In order to ensure integrity and transparency, any awards are paid directly to the educational institution.
Any award made by the Trust will be considered as a once-off grant. The Trust is under no obligation to provide any further financial assistance to any beneficiary after the term of the award has expired. All awards are made at the sole discretion of the trustees, and may not be revoked unless the beneficiary has failed to comply with the defined terms and conditions of the award. No award may be granted to any person that is, or will become, an employee of the donor, the Trust or any associated organisation, unless the trustees are satisfied with veritable proof that the award would have been granted even if the candidate wasn’t a current or prospective employee.

The Gateway International Education Trust is governed by well-defined award criteria to ensure that the selection process of recipients is fair and that we reach those who will derive the most value from the funding we provide.
The nomination, selection and award procedures are outlines below.
Awards criteria and process
-
Any person, including trustees, may nominate a black child as a potential recipient of an award.
-
Prospective beneficiaries are required to be enrolled in and attending a qualifying educational institution.
-
Beneficiaries will only selected on merit of exceptional scholastic aptitude and academic excellence.
-
Whilst children or qualifying learning institutions with special needs or learning disabilities are welcome to be nominated, the Trust is necessitated to allocate funding on the basis of financial need.
-
Beneficiaries may not be connected in any way, personally or professionally, to any trustee or the founder of the Trust.
-
The nomination, selection and verification of all recipients and awards remain solely at the trustees’ discretion and no correspondence will be entered into should a nomination not be approved. The trustees will not be held legally responsible for a failed nomination or any resulting matters.
